Terms of Service
Effective Date: April 16, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Bobbin mobile application and related services ("Service") provided by Bobbin Operating LLC ("Bobbin", "we", "us", or "our"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Bobbin. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent. By creating an account, you represent that you meet these requirements.
2. Account Registration
You may register using Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, or email and password. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.
3. Your Content
You retain full ownership of all embroidery designs, projects, fonts, and other content you create or import into Bobbin ("Your Content"). We do not claim any intellectual property rights over Your Content.
By using collaboration features, you grant temporary viewing or editing access to invited collaborators for the duration of the collaboration session only.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Upload content that infringes on third-party intellectual property rights
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
- Use automated tools to scrape or extract data from the Service
5. Subscription Plans
Bobbin offers a free tier (Lite) and paid subscription tiers (Premium and Pro). Paid subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store and are subject to Apple's terms and refund policies.
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings
- Downgrading to a free plan does not delete your existing designs or data
6. Embroidery Machine Compatibility
Bobbin exports designs in standard embroidery file formats (PES, DST, JEF, EXP, VP3, and others). While we strive for broad compatibility, we cannot guarantee that exported files will work with every embroidery machine model. Always test with a sample stitch-out before production use.
7. Experimental Wi-Fi Option
Some versions of Bobbin show a Wi-Fi send option labelled Experimental. It is not a supported way to transfer designs to embroidery machines and may not work with your machine or network. To move a design to your machine, export a file and transfer it the way your machine accepts designs. Bobbin is not responsible for any issues arising from use of the Experimental option, machine firmware, network configuration, or file compatibility.
8. Cloud Storage and Fair Use
8.1 Where your designs live. Designs and settings you save in Bobbin are stored in Bobbin Cloud, hosted on Amazon Web Services in the United States with encryption at rest and in transit, and kept as offline copies on your devices. We perform regular backups but cannot guarantee zero data loss; keep local copies of designs that matter to you.
8.2 Lite and Premium plans include the number of designs and fonts shown on the plan you chose. When you reach it, Bobbin tells you, and you can delete designs or upgrade. Nothing you have stored is ever removed because of a plan limit.
8.3 Pro: unlimited means unlimited for embroidery. Pro has no limit on the number of designs you store, and no limit on the total space they use. Each stored design can be up to 50 MB — about twice the largest single-hooping design as Bobbin stores it, and about twenty times the same design as a machine file. This is a file-format limit, not a storage allowance.
8.4 Intended use. Unlimited storage is for designs and settings that you create or import for your own embroidery, whether personal or for your business, synced between your own devices. It is not for: reselling or sharing storage with others; pooling several people's libraries in one account; storing files that are not embroidery designs; or using scripts or other software to upload, download or mirror your library automatically.
8.5 What we monitor, and what happens. We measure the size of each library, how much each account uploads and downloads, and how many devices sync to it. Ordinary heavy use — thousands of designs, importing a large back catalogue, a new device downloading everything — is expected and is never refused; very large imports and very large libraries may take more than a day under the rate limits in 8.6. If an account appears to be used for one of the uses listed in 8.4, we will email you first and explain what we have seen, and give you at least thirty days to respond or adjust; nothing changes during that time. Apart from the automatic protection described at the end of this section, large libraries on their own are never paused; we may simply get in touch. Only if it is one of those uses and we cannot resolve it with you may we pause the creation of new designs in that account while we talk (if we have confirmed one of those uses — for example you tell us, or the files are not embroidery — after seventy-two hours' notice instead). If an account is confirmed to be mirroring automatically (8.4), we may also lower its daily download allowance after that notice; what you have stored is never removed. We never delete your designs, never charge for storage, never move you to a different plan, and never slow down access to what you have stored because of how much you store. You can always download and export everything you have. One automatic protection exists, for designs: if an account's library grows many times larger than any embroidery library we know of — new designs pause on their own; we contact you within one business day and lift the pause for any ordinary use.
8.6 Rate limits. To keep the service responsive for everyone, uploads and downloads are rate-limited per account. The limits sit well above what any person using Bobbin reaches in a day; when one is hit, Bobbin waits and retries on its own.
8.7 Changes. If we ever need to change these storage terms for existing subscribers, we will give at least twelve months' notice, and nothing you have stored will be removed.
9. Intellectual Property
The Bobbin app, including its design, code, branding, and documentation, is the intellectual property of Bobbin Operating LLC. The thread catalog data is compiled from publicly available manufacturer information.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. Upon deletion, your data will be removed from our servers within 30 days. Locally stored designs on your device are unaffected.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that exported designs will produce specific embroidery results.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bobbin Operating LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to damage to embroidery machines, fabric, or materials.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the app or email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
